A surprisingly bright-eyed and bushy-tailed bunch assembled this morning at 6 a.m. - perhaps fortified by the thought of a second week of no school!?
Two 4-hour coach stints and an hour-and-a-half on the ferry later, which all passed off without too many problems (barring a nosebleed in a service station sweetshop queue!), we arrived at the Château de Grande Romaine. We had passed within a menhir's throw of Wednesday's destination - Parc Astérix - had spotted a hazy Tour Eiffel in the distance on our way around the edge of Paris, and had travelled underneath taxiing planes on two of Charles de Gaulle Airports runways...
The warm PGL welcome and the Château's excellent facilities have certainly lived up to expectations. The children have already had a karaoke competition and a very feisty game of mixed rounders, and as I type have been packed off to bed,freshly-showered and hopefully tired enough to sleep well and get lots of rest...there is a busy day in store tomorrow!!! Mr Blackstone, Mrs Marshall and Mr Bellars have had a highly exciting triangular badminton tournament - with Mrs Marshall's devilish competitive streak definitely to the fore!
I will (try to!) update the LangBlog every night, subject to availability of wifi connection here at the Château...And will attempt to add a few photos tomorrow, once I have found my USB cable!
Hope everyone back home is well. Your sons and daughters are doing you proud so far - Steve, our driver, has complemented them on their excellent behaviour on the journey down. All the best...Mr Bellars
