I have been following with interest the ongoing discussions on Twitter about the direction(s) education is taking in this country at the moment. Thanks to Doug Belshaw and Andy Stewart for to trying to crystallise these debates around a common forum - Purpos/ed (which I have in my own way being attempting to do in a rather narrower, rantier and overtly politically-motivated way via the Black Paper wiki...)
It occurred to me that one constituency which we, as educators and adults, perhaps neglect in our striving to "find the answer" to such questions, is the young people themselves.
So I asked a few of my classes, and the above attachment contains the answers. I did not edit or re-order the responses, apart from to save the final one til last. I hope that they will add something to the discussion, in their own way.
